Top Countries producing Geothermal power
SUBTITLE HERE !!!
The US has an installed capacity of 3,639MW in 2018, and are the leading producer of geothermal energy across the world,
producing 16.7 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of geothermal energy throughout the year. Number of plants around the world =

United States
Geothermal energy in the United States was first used for electric power production in 1960. The Geysers in Sonoma and Lake
counties, California was developed into what is now the largest geothermal steam electrical plant in the world, at 1,517 megawatts.
There are currently 74 operating conventional geothermal power plants in the United States.

Turkey
There is almost 2 gigawatts of geothermal power in Turkey, and it could be greatly expanded if the problem of its carbon
dioxide emissions can be solved. Geothermal power in Turkey began in the 1970s in a prototype plant following systematic
exploration of geothermal fields. In the 1980s, a first power plant has grown up out of the pilot facility. Turkey is ranked
seventh richest country in the world in geothermal potential. The small-sized geothermal power plant was expanded to the country's
biggest one in 2013. Over 60 power plants operate in Turkey as of 2020, , ,

Italy
In Italy there are 33 active geothermal plants with a total capacity of 772 MW. All the plants are in Tuscany in the provinces
of Grosseto, Pisa and Siena. The province of Pisa alone contributes for more than half of the national production. |
New Zealand
Ngatamariki is a geothermal power station commissioned in 2013 and operated by Mercury Energy. It is located approximately
17 km north east of Taupo and was constructed well under the budget of $475 million, The site consists of 7 geothermal wells
(3 production and 4 re-injection). In addition to the main goethermal wells, there are 21 sentinel and monitoring wells, to
depths of 1,500m. As of 2021 New Zealand has 19 geothermal power plants, , ,

Philippines
The Philippines is one of the world's top producers of geothermal power, owing to its location along the RING OF POWER zone
of Pacific volcanoes. The country commissioned the 12-megawatt Maibarara Geothermal Power Plant-2 on March 9, 2018, in Santo
Tomas, Batangas. The Philippines currently has seven geothermal fields which supply about 12 percent of the nation's energy.
